Aim of Library

  1. To provide free access to the general public for study, reading, and learning by arranging national and international books, journals, and periodicals of various disciplines in the library.
  2. To commemorate deceased Nepali literary figures by displaying their photographs in the library and observing their birth anniversaries.
  3. To maintain records and bibliographies of literary figures and scholars who have made outstanding contributions to Nepali language, literature, art, culture, and science.
  4. To organize literary seminars, lectures on science and knowledge, conferences, and award programs in the library from time to time.
  5. To organize literary programs in the library on national festival days.
  6. To provide, to the extent possible, financial assistance for medical treatment and publication of works of economically disadvantaged writers serving Nepali language and literature.
  7. To provide textbooks to selected local students from indigenous, marginalized, and economically disadvantaged communities.
  8. To conduct research and exploration on the religious, historical, and tourist sites of the Kali–Karnali region, as well as its folk literature, culture, and history, and to encourage and financially support talented individuals engaged in such activities.
  9. To collect representations of folk cultures from various regions of Nepal and promote and disseminate them through public exhibitions.
  10. To operate FM radio services, with approval from the Government of Nepal, to broadcast programs reflecting the language, literature, art, and culture of the Sudurpashchim region.
  11. To exchange cooperation and collaboration with national and international libraries and other institutions of similar nature, strengthen mutual relations, and promote a spirit of cooperation.
  12. To operate mobile library services as required in order to cultivate a reading culture among the public.
  13. To publish periodicals and other literary materials from the library.
  14. To publish works of its own and those of scholars and writers, and to establish a printing press as needed for income generation.
  15. To publish literary works of scholars, writers, scientists, researchers, lyricists, and poets.
  16. To produce and disseminate educational and knowledge-enhancing programs through television and video media to raise public awareness.
  17. To conduct various programs aimed at the promotion and development of language, literature, art, and culture.
  18. To honor, encourage, and reward creators and contributors who have made outstanding contributions in the fields of language, literature, art, culture, and social service.
  19. To promote children’s literature by organizing National Reading Day programs and children’s book exhibitions, thereby motivating and encouraging children to read.
  20. To conduct library-related training workshops, strengthen inter-library relations, and enhance mutual cooperation.
  21. To establish an endowment fund to ensure the long-term sustainability and fulfillment of the library’s defined objectives.
  22. To conduct in-depth research to locate lost or rare religious, historical, and scientific manuscripts and to recognize and honor contributors involved in such efforts.
