Kailali Public Library is located in the main market area of Dhangadhi, a beautiful city of Sudurpashchim Province. The library building can be seen along the main road to the south of the Nepal Telecom Office.
What are the library’s opening and closing hours?

Kailali Public Library remains open seven days a week.
Sunday to Friday:
From Kartik to Falgun: 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
From Chaitra to Ashoj: 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Saturday: Opens at 11:00 a.m.
Is the library closed on public holidays?

Yes. The library remains closed on public holidays except Saturdays. The library is closed on public holidays declared by the federal, provincial, and local governments.
Is there any fee to study inside the library?

No fee is required to study inside the library. Readers may request necessary reading materials from library staff and study in the reading room. However, to take books home, one must become a registered library member.
How much does it cost to become a library member, and what is the procedure?

To become a library member, an application must first be submitted.

• Annual membership fee: NPR 125
After completing this process, one becomes a registered library member.
For how many days can books be borrowed from the library?

Books may be borrowed for 15 days. If books are kept beyond this period, a late fee will be charged at the rate of NPR 5 per book per day.
How many books can be borrowed at one time?

Generally, one member may borrow one book at a time for a period of 15 days.
Is there a fine for late return of books?

Yes. If books are not returned within the specified time period (15 days), a fine will be charged per day/per book according to the prescribed rate.
What should be done if a book is lost?

The borrower must either replace the lost book with a new copy or pay the compensation amount determined by the library.
Is photography or mobile phone use allowed in the library?

To maintain a quiet environment, mobile phones must be kept on silent mode. Prior permission is required to take photographs inside the library.
How can users suggest or request new books?

Book suggestions or requests can be made by filling out the book suggestion form or by directly informing the library chief or staff.
How can books be renewed?

Books can be renewed before the due date at the library counter or through the designated renewal system.
Are personal books or notebooks allowed inside the library?

Notebooks are allowed inside the library. Bringing personal books is subject to the applicable library rules.

The library has more than 13,000 books covering various disciplines.
Available materials include literature (short stories, poetry, novels, essays, dramas), dictionaries in different languages, materials for civil service and teacher service examinations, religious books, and books related to science and technology.
What is the quality of internet service in the library?

The library provides high-quality internet service. Continuous improvements and new practices in the field of information technology are being implemented.
Are newspapers and magazines available?

Yes. Local and national newspapers and magazines published daily, weekly, monthly, and annually are available, along with bulletins. Daily newspapers are received regularly.
Are old newspapers and magazines preserved?

Yes. Old newspapers and magazines are carefully preserved and archived. Readers may access and study available past issues when needed.
How can one obtain lifetime membership?

To obtain lifetime membership, an application must be submitted along with a receipt of NPR 2,500.
The applicant must also submit a photocopy of citizenship certificate and four passport-size photographs.
After approval by the management committee, the lifetime membership certificate is issued within a few days.
